Catching up with the bump: Week 27! {plus an update on Mama Butter}

December 17, 2013

I’m at the end of my 27th week today! I can officially say I’m in my third trimester and I’m so excited to be in the homestretch. We’ve done a lot of tying up of loose ends in the last few weeks and everything finally seems to be falling into place. We’ve found our midwife and doula, started a birth plan, enrolled in birthing classes…all of the little details that create the big picture. And I finally made my first baby purchase!!! Cute little duds from Baby Gap. Thanks Black Friday! I’m especially partial to all of the teensy leggings I bought. I can’t help but squeal every time I hold one up. They are so, so little! I can’t imagine anyone being so tiny. As close as it feels, we still have about three more months before our little one arrives and no shortage of to-do’s in preparation, but little by little, I know we’ll get everything done.

p.s. I chopped off about 5 inches of length from my hair a few weeks back!!! I thought my new do was a mistake at first (I mean, curly bob? Not so much), but now I really love having shorter hair.

Also, remember this DIY for homemade Mama Butter from a few months ago? Well, I wanted to update you all on the results so far…

After using it for almost 28 weeks, I’m happy to say….no stretch marks!! I use it twice a day and I’m only about half way through the batch I made. I think one batch will definitely last someone a full term. Just thought anyone who may have been thinking about making this belly butter would want to know how it’s working :) – xoxo

    How exciting that you are using a midwife! I am currently doing a midwifery correspondence course, so it makes me excited when I hear others using a midwife. :) It just became legal here a few years, so it’s more unusual than in other states. I pray that you have a safe and smooth pregnancy and delivery!

    Congratulations momma! How exciting. I used a plain Jane OBGYN with my first. My second I used a midwife instead. It was such an amazing experience. Totally different (in a good way).
