Then & Now

When we got married, Evan and I decided that we’d always celebrate our anniversary with a mini honeymoon. This year, we headed back to the destination of our first weekend getaway together, Monterey. It was 2004 (a whole 9 years ago – wowzers!) and we were in our first year at Art Center, a school that leaves no room for fun, let alone weekend escapes, but somehow we managed. I was really nervous because I had never been away with a boy and I remember the whole ride up the coast, I was fidgety and full of butterflies. Evan grew up visiting the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and I loved that he wanted to show me one of his favorite places. The whole trip was so sweet, we ate crepes every morning, bought penny candy at the barrel candy shop and took long walks down Cannery Row. I’m pretty sure I knew I was in love after that weekend so naturally, Monterey holds a special place in my heart. Above is a picture we took in ’04 near the splash pool at the aquarium, and below is the same picture just three weeks ago. How time flies!-xo

p.s. have you been to the Monterey Bay Aquarium? It’s truly fantastic!
