Arranged

April 25, 2012

Floral design is something that I’ve always been drawn to but a skill that has never really come naturally to me. Hubs, on the other hand, seems to have a natural eye for it. When we first started dating, he’d surprise me with gorgeous, hand-picked bouquets that he’d wrap with pretty ribbons and twine. For our wedding, Evan arranged all of our succulent centerpieces. So when I came home with four bunches of beautiful spring flowers from Trader Joe’s (they always have good, affordable flowers, don’t they?), Evan guided me through a few arrangements and I was surprised at how easily I was able to throw together pretty florals to display around the house. xoxo!

P.S. The white flowers are ranunculus, the big purple ones are scilla, the light pinks are lilac (and smell amazing!) and the tall fuchsia plant is unknown…the cellophane wrap said textured flower?

You could even create amazing things from what is in your yard! When we were first married, we would go to the florist and buy one flower because that was all we could afford. We would learn something about that flower and add something we picked along the way home. Eventually, we knew a lot about a lot of flowers! Now we carry clippers in each car, because you never know when you might find something amazing! When you were here I meant to cut the Scotch broom from the “yard” and have a bunch of it in one of Evan’s huge vases. If it’s still there in June, we will do that before we cut it all out (fire hazard). Flowers are fun and uplifting and should always be a part of your life.

We should definitely pick flowers from our own yard, it’s in full bloom right now! I’m googling Scotch broom…now.
