Yes, please: Handmade Weddings

March 10, 2011

I finally received my own copy of Handmade Weddings! Perfect timing too, something inspiring and crafty is exactly what I need to get me out of this flu funk. Written by the sister team behind Hello Lucky! and styling guru, Shana Faust, this book is a DIY bride’s dream come true! I should know, I was a DIY bride myself. Everything from tablecloths, to invitations, to floral arrangements, and beyond was made with my two little hands or the many wonderful hands donated by friends and family… and all of the effort was well worth it, hubby and I really felt like our day was all the more special because it was so thoughtfully pieced together. You can see more pictures from our wedding here.

What about you? Are you planning a DIY wedding? Where do you find inspiration? If anyone would like to share their DIY details, I’d love to see them! xoxo!

We made little gift tags for the coffee favors we gave out (hand roasted by our groomsman Aric who is part owner of Sterling Coffee Roasters here in Portland). I also made our invitations (the main image drawn by our good friend), programs, table assignments which I hung on ribbon from a little dogwood tree I bought. It was a lot of work and got stressful near the end, but all the little individual pieces put together made our day feel even more unique and special. Oh yeah, our friend also decorated the unity candles for us. I love that soap idea!
