52 Week Project: WK 2

January 31, 2011

Okay, so while it’s technically week four of the year (the last day of week four, in fact), I’m a little behind on posting (okay….a lot behind!) so here’s what we did week 2. Since we’re getting a new bed, we decided to move our current bed into the spare room so that we can start painting in our bedroom plus once our new bed is in place, the old bed will stay in the spare room which we’ll proudly start calling “the guest room”.

The bedroom

As you can see, our current bedroom is pretty mismatchy and void of any style whatsoever. We have a lot of hand-me-down furniture leftover from our college days and we pretty much married everything together when we moved in together a few years ago. You can’t see it in the picture above but the wall is a chocolate-brown, the trim is white and the ceiling is a very pale pink…yes, my bedroom is the color of a Neapolitan ice cream sandwich! Needless to say, we’re excited to get a new color on the wall.

The Spare Room (soon to be The Guest Room)

So, above you can see where we’ve setup camp for the next couple of weeks until we get around to painting, furnishing, window treating and decorating our new digs. Known as the spare room now, the second bedroom has been called “the storage room”, “Diamonds bedroom”, and “the music room” for a short stint while E had his keyboards, drums and guitars setup. Never has it been called the “Guest Room” because we’ve never really been able to house guests comfortably in it. The few times family has come to stay with us, we’ve scrambled to make it livable with a blow-up Aerobed. Now, we’ll able to accommodate another couple comfortably  and that makes us feel pretty grown up. More updates to come!
