banana bread love

December 7, 2009

I always have a bunch of bananas that are going… I dunno what our deal is. We buy them and then don’t eat them in time. They never go to waste though, I always find a way to salvage them. Last night, continuing my “use stand mixer any way possible” mission, I made a quick banana bread loaf and sent some off to my good friends dad who just came home from a long hospital stay and to Evan’s office since I’ve been neglecting them lately. I used a food network recipe and it was pretty good… not too sweet, light and moist and very banana-y. We also made hot cocoa with a splash of peppermint schnapps and shaved toblerone (totally Evan’s idea) and decked our little christmas tree while  listening to cheesy holiday music… it’s our corny tradition…everyone needs at least one!  Enjoy!

Up next…I’m on a baking mission this week. Every year I make baked gifts for our neighbors and this year in particular, I have no time on my schedule to do so over a weekend. Between day work, cupcake work and holiday parties, my weekends are booked solid through the new year… no kidding. I actually wish it wasn’t so but what can you do? Actually, the only thing I can do is steal pockets of time whenever I get the chance, today I plan on making lemon squares and raspberry linzer cookies, tomorrow it’s homemade “oreo’s” and lemon crisps (our lemon tree is going off and I’m taking advantage), and wednesday, I plan on making my out-of-this-world rice krispies treats with homemade marshmallow and chocolate dipped pretzels! I’ll post pics of all as they come along. Enjoy the rain LA, great day for baking!

Well we have tons of focaccia bread and pizza left over which I’m sure won’t last long with Evan around and the banana bread I sent off to work with Evan and some off to Jim as a get well gift. Yes, homemade marshmallow! Can’t wait! I’ll try to save you some, hopefully I see you this weekend.
